Carnival Cruise Line Fuel Purchasing Agent in Miami, Florida

Job Description

The Fuel Purchasing Agent will provide operational and sourcing support for designated operating companies within Carnival Corporation & plc’s global fleet that yields $2B + in direct spend. The role will encompass global supply of all compliant marine fuels in a high-pressure, highly regulated, fast paced volatile commodity market—directly contributing to the safe and efficient bunkering of all ships. This role will also support the overall sourcing activities including demand planning, operational management, fuel pricing analytics, supplier, and internal stakeholder management. This role will manage a fuel portfolio ranging from traditional marine fuels to next generation - low carbon fuels that supports 96+ cruise ships across the globe.

Essential Functions:

  • Managing and support transactional activities including demand management, fulfilment, scheduling and lift optimization. Initiates the delivery process for 2,500 + marine fuel orders a year based on price, availability, mode of transportation, and itinerary optionality. This position will have the authority to bind the company to pre negotiated contract deals.

  • Developing & maintaining complete knowledge and understanding of all vessels & ports within his / her area of responsibility. Maintain record tracking to support operational excellence that contribute to departmental KPI’s

  • Provide support & inputs to critical decisions that affect the operational area of responsibility, direct communication with Chief Engineers, Captains, Suppliers and Shoreside Management. Responsible for meeting internal stakeholders on a regular cadence to discuss open issues and identify opportunities

  • Drive continuous improvement to all aspects of Fuel operational processes including identifying areas for process improvement and standardization of processes for efficiency. Responsible for researching and problem-solving including delivery failures, scheduling conflicts, delivery disputes, and invoice discrepancies.

  • Managing the complete portfolio of operational tasks required to fuel the Fleet with a strong bias to streamlining and automating tasks as quickly as possible

  • Provide Support for special projects and sourcing efforts, including supplier performance measurements and management / maintenance of departments KPI’s

  • Sourcing – Manage the buying of non-contracted demand in the spot market (transactions up to and over $1 million), Support the Sr. Manager in Sourcing decisions

  • Develop industry knowledge that will allow Carnival Corporation to source fuel in various location while accessing risk/reward scenarios.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree

  • Discipline/Major: Supply Chain, Finance, Business, Engineering, Functional Experience

  • Required Years & Area of Professional Experience: 1-3 years

  • Critical Professional Related Technical/Computer Skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Other Requirements: Needs to be able to work on call rotational shifts that requires night and weekends operational coverage

  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s or equivalent experience

  • Preferred Experience & Type: Cruise Ship Operations or Cruise Ship Admin or Bunker Industry

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Bunker commodity Markets, Finance, Analytical Skills, Sourcing Skills, Logistics, Demand, and Supply chain skills

Decision-Making :

Tactical: Tactical bunker procurement Contributor for all Carnival Corp Fleet 96+ ships that requires time sensitive communication via email, phone, and extensive after hour coverage 24/7 across global time zones.

Operational: Monitors, manages, acts, on time sensitive operational requirements for the ship to continue safe and efficient operations. Agent will have to manages change rate for all order that requires communication and decision making across multiple parties including, ship, supplier, agent, barge crew, shoreside and multiple fueling options within the ships itinerary.

Standard: Transactional activities require a high level of detail and expertise to ensure the right product is delivered at the right time and at the right location. Mistake and/or errors could be very costly or in more severe instances, leading up to cruise cancellation.

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities.

Travel: Less than 25%-shipboard travel likely

Work Conditions: Participate in the On-call Rotation to Support “Fuel The Fleet” activities. Take an active role in transitioning manual systems and processes to our Procure to Pay system.

The range for this role’s salary rate is $43,800-$75,000. Offers to the selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
