Job Description

The Talent and Engagement Specialist is a member of the Shipboard HR Talent and Engagement team and is responsible for executing projects, processes and tools that support the shipboard Talent Management and Engagement initiatives including; Talent Management, Succession Planning, Performance Management, Engagement surveys and Employee Experience initiatives. This role will partner with Shipboard & Shoreside leadership to design best-in-class, innovative talent, performance and engagement experiences, tools, and materials. This role will support key HR technology implementations, change management initiatives, analytical trends, and employee experience processes. Works closely with technical partners and business analysts on new development, features and bugs. Proposes and implements solutions to bridge identified gaps, ensuring optimal system performance.

Essential Functions:

  • Talent Management: Executes Carnivals Shipboard Talent Management processes for all Shipboard team members. Develops enhancements and process improvements to support our yearly Shipboard Talent Management strategies for all shipboard supervisors and above (8000+ team members). Develops effective tools to implement Talent Reviews at the shipboard level. Trains HR Directors to execute Talent Reviews for shipboard supervisors and mid-level managers. Designs and manages all processes and tools to drive and support Carnivals Talent and Succession planning program. Leads projects that support Talent Management including Talent Reviews, Career Plans, Promotions, Career Paths and Department Transfers. Measures the reliability and validity of all data to ensure our Talent Management strategies continue to achieve a high level of effectiveness and consistency upholding our DEI goals

  • Talent Reviews: Executes Carnivals Shipboard Talent Reviews. Leads the Talent Review process for all Shipboard Senior Officers, Department Heads and Deputy’s. Partners with shoreside Senior Leaders to design qualitative and quantitative 360 feedback assessments for all Senior Leaders Department Heads and Deputy’s (2000 + team members). Designs reliable and valid surveys using the most advanced technology platforms compatible with ship and shore. Operates as the functional contact of Talent Management technology. Executes communication strategies to ensure efficient administration of all Talent Reviews and surveys. Analyzes all survey feedback and data to identify trends using Excel and Power BI. Compiles and administers survey data through dashboards and other reporting methods. Facilitates 9 box Talent Reviews on all Shipboard Senior Officers and Leaders for the Shoreside Leadership team. Partners with Shoreside Leaders to recommend and create development plans and stretch goals for high performers and coaching plans for low performers. Measures the reliability and validity of all data to ensure our Talent Reviews continue to achieve a high level of effectiveness and consistency upholding our DEI goals

  • Reporting Analytics and Auditing: Develops and runs analytics on evaluations, job performance, competency, and promotability reports. Provides insights and recommendations based on analytics to enhance the effectiveness of the performance management system. Provides monthly reports to department system users. Conducts thorough audits of the performance management system to identify and rectify errors in reports. Identifies disparities between current system functionalities and desired business objectives. Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to address any compliance-related concerns.

  • Performance Management: Develops enhancements to our current Performance Management system. Partners with our offshore technical team to create new process flows to implement, support and enhance Carnivals’ Performance Management system. Main responsibilities include designing workflows to our current Performance Management system to support all electronic documentation for Evaluations, Performance Records, Development & Improvement plans, Suspension Termination & Resignation reports, Senior Officer Conferences and End of Contract reports. Testing all workflow designs, data refreshes, writing test scripts and user stories to verify enhancements and upgrades. Analyzes and validates performance data to ensure accuracy. Develops training materials and work guides to introduce and demonstrate new enhancements to all shipboard and shoreside users. Trains shipboard and shoreside users on all new implementations and upgraded enhancements to the system

  • Employee Engagement: Executes the Annual Employee Engagement Survey communications, administration & action planning process for 40,000+ employees- including ship preparation, survey execution, and planning. Supports the development of communications, tools, programs, and metrics that increase Employee Engagement. Ensures the results are communicated and action planning efforts are upheld fleet wide throughout the year. Accountable for ensuring the integrity of the employee engagement process, tools, and outcomes. Analyzes trends and provides recommendations to ensure carnival remains an employer of choice. Prepares departmental and companywide reports through Qualtrics and presents insights to senior leaders.

  • DEI: Proactively and innovatively focuses on Carnivals DEI Action Plans. Gathers, interprets, and uses complex data to develop actionable steps that will improve processes and optimize DEI results. Partners with Shoreside leaders to provide insight on the progress of the DEI goals based off historic results.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree a plus

  • Discipline/Major: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, Statistics or Organizational Development. Master’s degree a plus

  • Required Certifications: SHRM a plus

  • Required Years and Area of Professional Experience: 3+ years of HR experience with an emphasis in HR business partnership, Talent Management and Data Analytics. Specifically providing insights in employee and organizational performance through the design and delivery of people programs. Preferably in the hospitality or cruise industry

  • Critical Professional Related Technical/Computer Skills: Data Analytics, Strong Microsoft Office capabilities; experience preparing presentation materials and delivery for executive audiences, advanced Excel skills, Qualtrics

  • Other Requirements: Data analytics, system design, Qualtrics, Power BI, Tableau

  • Preferred Experience & Type: Talent Management, Succession Planning, Engagement, Analytics in a company with 1000+ employees

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent communication skills, critical thinking, works well in a team, self-motivation, flexible, persistence, data analytics, system design, and technology savvy

Decision-Making:

Operational: Decisions focus on day-to-day activities within the company. Decisions made at this level help to ensure that daily activities proceed smoothly and therefore help to move the company toward reaching a strategic goal. They have short term consequences. Examples are: Handling employee conflicts, purchasing materials needed for operations.

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

Travel: Less than 25% with shipboard travel likely.

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

The range for this role’s salary $51,600-$75,300. Offers to the selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
